Time is running out. The "status quo" isn't sustainable. The "system" is broken, and "the powers that be" lack either the knowledge or will to address (much less "fix") the present and looming problems that face all levels of polity, from village to planet.
The Smart Party was created to seek out and study the wisest ideas, formulate and disseminate the soundest principles, and strategize and implement the best actions that offer the most viable alternative to "business as usual" and the greatest likelihood of creating a sustainable, just, and peaceful future.
The Smart Party is a work in progress, and, although there already are some fundamental principles that undergird its reason for being, there is plenty of room for contributions of specific ideas, concepts, and actions that can round out and energize what has been started.
Much of what serves as a basis for The Smart Party can be found in the various Green Party principles and platforms from around the world, at least as a a starting point.
For now, the "Party" part is infinitesimally small, being the original idea of ONE person, and that person reserves the right to establish its guiding principles, scope of investigation, and range of involvement. As additional serious persons demonstrate a similar commitment, outside contributions will be appropriately appended.
This is not about propping up the old paradigms and labels, so don't let previous party affiliations or leanings keep you from participating; there are SMART ideas and positions to be found throughout the political spectrum, and SMART individuals can agree to consider them ALL as potential facets of a NEW, comprehensive SMART approach to problem-identifying and problem-solving.
SURVIVAL... through Ecological Wisdom & Sustainable Action;
PEACE... through Respect for Diversity & Non-Violence;
JUSTICE (Economic & Social)... through Less Privilege & More Democracy;
COMMUNITY... through Localization & Cooperative Responsibility.
Membership in The Smart Party is subject to demonstrable evidence of one's intelligence, vision, and a proven record of community service.
